BEHIND THE LENS

Reflections Photography keeps it real: plain-English teaching from Phuket, hands-on photo adventures, a curated shop of books & gear, wall-ready local prints, and support that’s as friendly as it is helpful.

HI, I’M DAVE HIBBINS.

I’m a Phuket-based photographer and teacher who believes good photos come from simple choices, not complicated menus.

I chase blue-hour color, honest moments, and that tiny pause where everything feels right. If you’ve ever thought “where do I even start?”, you’re my kind of person.

I speak fluent aperture, shutter speed, and “which button is this?”—and I’m patient about all three. Whether you bring a DSLR or a phone, I’ll help you make images that feel like you: cleaner, calmer, and more confident.

Expect practical tips, bad dad jokes, and the occasional happy dance when the light plays nice.

When I’m not leading a sunrise walk or hunting reflections in Old Town, I’m writing step-by-step guides and planning friendly photo adventures.

Come say hi; I promise not to make you memorize anything frightening before coffee.

Quick Answers

Do you teach complete beginners (and smartphones)?

Absolutely. We start with the essentials—aperture, shutter speed, and ISO—in plain English. Come with a camera or a phone; the approach is the same: real light, real places.

How big are the photo adventures and what do we shoot?

Small groups at a relaxed pace (think sunrise seascapes, Old Town nights, and golden-hour temples). Lots of hands-on time; plenty of space for questions.

What should I bring on a tour?

Camera or smartphone, charged batteries/power bank, empty card/storage, comfy shoes, water, and a light jacket. A tripod and ND/CPL filters are handy if you have them—no worries if you don’t.

Can I book a private session or a custom date?

Yes—1:1 and private groups are available. Tell me what you’d like to learn and we’ll tailor it.

What happens if the weather turns?

We shoot in gentle weather (some of the best light!), but for heavy rain or storms we’ll reschedule or credit you. Full details live on the tours page.

Do you also offer photography services and prints?

Yes. I shoot portraits, events, and brand stories, and I offer wall-ready prints.
